MGC Flower Show Awards, Rev. 2019

Directions:
If a flower show receives the ‘go ahead’ to prepare a Book of Evidence (it must score 95 or above), follow the rules and directions for applying for a NGC Flower Show Achievement Award. Send the completed Book of Evidence to the MGC Advice and Awards Chair by October 1.
Each application for a NGC Flower Show Achievement Award will be considered for one of the MGC Flower Show Awards as described and listed here.

Michigan Gold

A Standard Flower Show given by one MGC club.
One may be awarded to each of four clubs based on membership. No club may win more often than every other year.
a. FS-1A, clubs with fewer than 21 (one or more educational and/or youth exhibits)
b. FS-1B, clubs with 21-49 members (two or more educational and/or youth exhibits)
c. FS-1C, clubs with 59-99 (three or more educational and/or youth exhibits)
d. FS-1D, clubs with100+ members (three or more educational and/or youth exhibits)

Lavender Lace

A Standard Flower Show given by one MGC club or two or more MGC clubs held in a public building, such as: a historically preserved home, museum, church, business district, shopping center, mall, housing development, world, state or county fairs, furniture stores or other suitable commercial public buildings. Garden tour(s) may be included. Shows may have a patriotic or Christmas theme. Three or more educational and/or youth exhibits are required.

Buttercup Award

A Small Standard Flower Show given by one garden club.
This award is sponsored by MAAJ: First Place in each category will receive $50:
a. Small Size Club (fewer than 21 members) FS- 1A
b. Medium Size Club (21-49 members) FS-7B
c. Large Size Club (50-99 members) FS-7C

Daffodil Award

A Petite Standard Flower Show in which all horticulture and design exhibits qualify as Petite Divisions.

Holly and Ivy

A Standard Flower Show given by one club or a group of clubs. Show must feature the spirit of the holiday/s using a minimum of artificial decorative materials and NO artificial flowers or foliage. Three or more educational and/or youth exhibits are required.

Red, White and Blue

A Standard Flower Show given by one MGC garden club or two or more MGC garden clubs located geographically near each other. Theme of the show must have been patriotic in terms of advancement of Americanism. The flag of the United States of America shall have been correctly and prominently displayed as a feature of the show. Exhibitors shall not be limited to the use of so called patriotic colors (red, white and blue) in the entries. All colors and values shall be permitted. The show must have been given and staged by the clubs applying for the award. The show must feature the spirit of patriotic traditions, using a minimum of artificial decorative materials and NO artificial flowers or foliage. Three or more educational and/or youth exhibits are required.

Apple Blossom

A Standard Flower Show given by one or more than one MGC garden clubs held in a home or homes with a tour of two or more gardens. Three or more educational and/or youth exhibits are required.

Pink Placement

A Standard Flower Show given by one garden club, held in a home or homes. Garden tour NOT required. One or more educational and/or youth exhibits are required.

Michigan Platinum

One may be awarded to a MGC State Standard Flower Show or a MGC District Standard Flower Show that includes three or more educational and/or youth exhibits.

3. You will need to include two copies of this form with the BOE:

4. A copy of this form (filled in) is included with the BOE. It is one of the allowed 20 pages (not an additional page). Make sure to fill this out (or collect the necessary data) on the day of the flower show.
